L'altro approccio alla statistica.
The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is a very controvertial event of the 20th century hystory and nowadays it is still not easy to analyze the decisions that made it happen in a rational way, without the interference of ideology and emotionality. The aim of this work is to examine in depth the context and the background in which those decisions developped. The author shows how the nuclear arms race started before the Manhattan Project and reveals episodes of the second world war unknown to the most and only recently discovered.

Some philosophical aspects of probability theory are highlighted, and ethical and theory-game related issues of decision making are also touched.
